What do you think about the revolving door of people who presided over the Wall Street debacle (including at the Fed as per oversight) is now appointed in government positions overseeing the same financial sector? Don't you think they'll repeat their failures (incompetence) or is it that it takes a thief to catch a thief (of a nefarious nature)?
Special Note:
I was very uneasy when I saw Bob Rubin's dominant cameo (in a positive light) in the I.O.U.S.A. documentary. Here is the architect (with Alan Greenspan, Phil Gram and others) who is responsible for the Wall Street debacle (including the Fed's lack of oversight - didn't see it coming/didn't know there was gambling/didn't drive the money changers out of the Temple). Now, he and others are being praised as possible picks for the Treasury Department and for key economic advisor positions.
Yes guys, we are speaking of Bob Rubin who presided over the fiasco at Citigroup - the management of which makes the Big Three Automakers' CEOs seem like Nobel Laureates in Economics/Business Management. Is it a case of the foxes watching the coop? To borrow from Thomas Jefferson (looking better each day than his chief rival - Alexander Hamilton), who's watching the watchers? Who is guarding the guardians? Definitely, we should revisit Thomas Jefferson and take heed to his words (even the ones not quoted here but follows the same train of thought).
Albert Einstein once said "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Is "the System" (both economical and political) insane or just crazy like a fox? Hmmm, I might be overreacting after all. It might be a case of Sir Winston Churchill's quote in action: "Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm." Perhaps, I'm only a "mad" prophet - the lone voice in the wilderness. Again, I would hope my analysis (heck, prophecy) is off the mark but I'm sad to report that I'm right on the money (no pun intended). Finally, Jonathan Swift put it best, "When a true genius appears in the world, you will know him by this sign: The dunces are in confederacy against him."
