Speed dating has recently been known as a type of dating or matchmaking among individuals not in a relationship. Singles speed dating started out as a Jewish activity initiated by Rabbi Yaacov Deyo of the Jewish Orthodox organization Aish HaTorah, which has also registered the term SpeedDating.
Several speed dating events has already transpired since the occurrence of the very first speed dating event in 1998. This speed dating event was held in Pete's Cafe in Beverly Hills, California. Singles speed dating is said to have become popular in 2000 and has also been featured in television shows like Sex and the City.
Speed dating events are often organized by groups or companies that were formed specifically for such purpose and for a certain fee. The payment often includes food and drinks. Certain groups may also offer promos, combos, and other payment schemes. Other organizers that have websites are also engaged in online speed dating and extend their speed dating services to their websites' visitors and registered users.
The organizers are the ones who select appropriate speed dating locations within a certain country or a specific city or community. The organizers are also responsible for matching the participants or registrants to one another. The pairing up may be on the basis of age, sexual orientation, age, and other similar criteria. Basically, it involves grouping individuals that share certain similarities, for example events in speed dating Australia group together residents of Australia. For something more specific, organizers group together residents of smaller communities like speed dating Sydney or speed dating Melbourne.
The partcipating singles are given at least 3 minutes (at most 8 or 10 minutes) for each round. Afterwards, they are rotated so they could meet other participants. One of the most useful speed dating tips is to be prepared - be it with speed dating questions, answers, or with any other necessities. You can ask typical questions about previous relationships or family. But you can also include any humorous or amusing questions (and answers!) such as asking if they have any cute siblings or if they give Christmas gifts to their pets (if they have one).
Given such arrangements, speed dating is considered by many as a convenient way to get to meet prospective partners. Speed dating events, as the name implies, are short and usually last for only an hour or two. In this regard, they are considered time-efficient because they can always be schedule after work or school.
