Kind On What To Look For In Mountain Bikes. Some Ideas
Stores are swamped with all kinds of bikes. Mountain bikes are considered to be the best for difficult landscape. Some special types of MTB or ATB (all terrain bicycles) are:
o Free riding bike.
o Down hill bike.
o Full suspension bike.
o Endurance bike.
One who is going to ride for the first time should select a bicycle made for beginners. Usually these bikes are used for jumps, sharp turn downs, off-road cycling, and passing through rocks. These types of bikes must withstand unexpected and rough passages. Some specifications for Mountain bikes are:
o Wheel and rim of 559 mm according to the International Standard Organization.
o But different sizes of rims and wheels are used according to bike height.
o The bicycle wheels are wide and twisted to bear shocks from sudden influences.
o The ends on a handlebar must be used for extra grip to climb mountains.
Many modern types of bicycles have been developed since 1970 due to the rapid growth of the sport. Now gear bikes are also available with a limit of 25-28 gears. These help in gaining speed and making smooth progress for climbing. Disc head instead of cantilever is also a new development in mountain bikes. Rigid bikes do not have suspension, while suspension of a soft tail bike is located at the rear. Bikes must be light in weight so as to facilitate the rider to ride frequently without any impeding force. Some beneficial guidelines for riding are:
o Grease the bicycle's necessary parts. Dry wax lube can be used in dry weather and wet oil during wet weather conditions.
o After returning from a ride, remove the dirt from the bike with water, followed by a smooth cloth to dry. As dirt on a chain and in gears increases friction.
o Do not let the lube or grease stick at the brakes or rims, this may be fatal when brakes are applied as brakes may slip and the bicycle is not able to stop.
