About anti lock brakes on Nissan vans

When you go shopping for your Nissan van, you find that most brands of vans come with an anti-lock braking system, or an option for use in the van. The reason for this is most van buyers consider it a necessity to have anti lock braking systems in the van they buy.

This is because these brakes give the driver control over the vehicle when coming to a sudden stop. These brakes work using calculated, rapid pumping actions that prevent any locking of wheels with a sudden stop. So beneficial is this technology to the vehicular market that it is rated the number one automobile innovation in recent years.

It is with the help of computer controlled speed sensors that sudden deceleration is detected by the brakes which consequently get activated just before the point of locking up of the wheels.

How ABS system prevent skidding

With rapid release and application of pressure to the brake system in quick intervals, this brake system lets the tires decelerate at the same rate of the vehicle. This is what prevents skidding and lets the driver steer away from any obstacles. Without this brake, the vehicle loses traction wherein the driver is at the control of the vehicle and whatever comes in its path.

Though the ABS helps in preventing accidents, if the driver does not know how to correctly use the brakes in times of skids, there may not be any benefit from the brakes. It is important that you never pump the anti lock brakes in your Nissan van.

Different types of ABS systems

Instead, you have to constantly pressure the brake pedal while keeping a firm grip on the steering wheel. This lets you control the direction of the vehicle and the brake, stop the van.

However when you go about buying your Nissan van with an ABS, you have to know that not all ABS systems are similar. Some of these systems have a speed sensor and valves connected to each of the four wheels of the vehicle. Then there are some systems that have only one valve and sensor for both the rear wheels.

So before you actually invest in an ABS system, it is better that you go through the owner’s manual so that you get to know about the type of ABS system installed in the Nissan van you choose.
