Orange Moutain Bikes and The Diva
Most of the major bike brands have something to offer women in the form of standard models tweaked to fit the female form: Orange mountain bikes are no different.Often known as women specific designs, the jury is still out on how much need there is for such models.Before about a decade ago female riders had to cope with bikes designed for men.However, as Orange mountain bikes and others point out there are some obvious differences between men and women and for the most comfortable rides, mountain bikes should reflect that.
Orange mountain bikes took into account the rule of thumb that women are generally smaller than men and have less variation in body size when designing their women specific bikes.As a result the design of the Diva, Orange mountain bikes' women specific range, has slightly different sizing and geometry to the men's version in order to accommodate the different body shapes and offer a more comfortable ride.
More often than not, women need shorter and lower bikes and find lighter bikes give an easier and more comfortable riding experience. Lucky then that the Orange Five Diva can deliver all of this. Most bikers will be pretty familiar with the design classic that is the Orange mountain bikes' Five model. Trails are always full of them. You might even see a few Diva Fives. But how good are they?
The Orange mountain bikes Diva Five comes in a choice of short or long sizes. Regardless of the size, the bike is still based around the standard 14 inch Five. The build kit is probably the most obvious difference between the Diva and the standard model: it features 165mm cranks where the standard features 175mm ones. Of course, there is also the women's saddle for comfort.
Because of the air suspension on the front and back of the bike, it is quite lightweight. The ride is also comfortable thanks to the narrower handlebars, shorter cranks and women's saddle. Don't let the comfort factor fool you: Hope breaks and Shimano gears ensure this is still a fearless ride.
In all, you can't argue that Orange mountain bikes have done a very good job with the Diva Five. It was always going to be a good idea to alter a successful design to make it more girl friendly. Look no further for a good quality women's trail bike.
