Longboard Skateboard Bearings - Bearing For a Smoother Longboarding

A longboard skateboard differs from the regular skateboard in many ways. As such, it has its own requirements for the types of deck, trucks, wheels and bearings that are needed to build a customized longboard skateboard. The bearings of a skateboard help to determine the speed at which the wheels roll which in turn determines the speed of the skateboard. As such, it is important to select the longboard skateboard bearings required for building your personalized longboard skateboard with utmost care.

Bearings are metallic or ceramic rings containing small balls made of either ceramic or other metals. They are fitted inside the wheels and they rotate the axles of the truck, which is in turn responsible for propelling the skateboard. The ceramic bearings are primarily composed of ceramic zirconium oxide and ceramic cerbec silicon nitride. Though these cost much more than the steel bearings, performance wise they are more suitable for use as longboard skateboard bearings.

The rust resistant ceramic bearings are lighter than their steel counterparts. They have a longer life span if maintained well and even roll more smoothly. They have a lower degree of friction owing to their thermal resistance as such the ceramic longboard skateboard bearings are considered ideal for high speed downhill racing for which the longboard skateboards are most commonly used. The longboard skateboard bearings make the longboard skateboards a good mode of transportation, since the ceramic bearings provide a smoother rolling experience. The ceramic bearings being light in weight provide a good opportunity for skateboarders to try out certain tricks with their longboard skateboard.
